	Australia, New Zealand, Tuvalu and others have a Union Jack, which is the entire flag of the U.K. Is there a reason they don't count? I imagine there could be, but I can't think of exactly why.

	Very vague boundaries to this quiz. I understand what you mean, but the flags "depicted" in El Salvador and Haiti are not really flags but are more like banners/pennants. Tonga has the symbol of red cross in it. Not the flag of the red cross (which has a white background). Moreover, adding the Union Jack countries makes you wonder if for example Thailand should be added. The flag of the Netherlands is visible in it, albeit not in the right ratio, but the same thing can be said for the Union Jack appearing in other flags. And what about Monaco/Indonesia?

	@Andiyan: there’s a big difference between the Netherlands in Thailand, which just happens to be there as an accident of colours, and the Union Jack in the Commonwealth flags, which is specifically there as a copy of the Union Jack. And the flags in El Salvador and Haiti certainly are flags — not modern national flags, sure, but flags nonetheless.

	Tonga's flag does not have the Red Cross on it. It was developed independently.

	I think you need to better defined which flags we are talking about. I think it would be best to limit this to only flags of sovereign nations (this would exclude Tonga, Afghanistan and Brunei).

	Brunei should be included; it has a small red forked pennant on its flag. Tonga, however, should not; true, the Red Cross is not a country, but even if you do wish to count international organisations, the fact remains that there was no intention to include 'the Red Cross flag', just a red cross on a white background. It is, as you say for Thailand, just a coincidence of colours (and in this case geometric shapes as well).

	The Tongan flag represents Jesus Christ, not the Red Cross. Its original version (identical to the Red Cross) was actually designed in 1862, 2 years before the Red Cross adopted its flag.
