This is my first quiz. Please let me know about any errors, any possible answers you want adding, and whether the time limit should be reduced or increased. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments, I've changed it to 6 minutes. Anyone else, let me know if this time limit is ok. Also, just to note, although the source for the quiz is wikipedia, all of these are sourced on the wikipedia page.

Just wondering why Afghan works for Afghan Civil War but Russian doesn't for Russian Civil War.

Some pretty big ones are missing...more than 2.5 million died in the Sudanese civil war (north vs. south). The continuing wars in the Democratic republic of the Congo have claimed up to 4 million lives in over the last 2 decades.

@ Mr BRW: You're right that's a good point. My logic was that I think the Russian Civil War is quite commonly known by that name, or the Russian Revolution, which is also accepted, whereas the Afghan Civil War is known by many in the west as the War in Afghanistan or Afghan War, and I've accepted all answers with the 'War' removed. If people think I should include 'Russian' or remove 'Afghan' then I will do. Feedback please!

@ RedLIon: The War in the DRC is on there! The Second Congo War. I'm afraid I'm not going to accept 'DRC' or 'Democratic Republic of the Congo' as an answer as there has been more than one war there. It also accepts Great African War, Great War of Africa and African World War for that answer. As for Sudan, as I understand it, most of those casualties come from starvation and drought, which are indirect effects of the war rather than direct casualties, so that's why my source didn't include it. For example, some people count the Spanish Flu deaths during WWI as part of the total of the war (arguing that increased international travel helped spread the virus) but I've used figures that don't include that figure - all figures are direct casualties of military action.

@Joebobs, Well done for providing such well-documented replies! Some people create a quiz but then never go back to see the comments and amend the possible mistakes.

What about accepting 'Huguenot War' for the French religious war?

@ cuendillar: Done! Thanks for pointing that one out. I'd set it to accept 'huguenot' but you must have typed faster than it. :D It now accepts it with 'huguenot war' and 'huguenot wars'

I was thinking 'Mongolian invasion' but couldn't really give it a name that this quiz would accept... how about just accepting 'Mongol' or 'Mongolian'?

It already does accept just 'mongol', but I'll add 'mongolian' and 'mongolian invasion' too. 'Mongol' should have worked though, typo maybe? Thanks for the feedback!

This quiz has been played a lot (over 1000 times) and no one has any problem with the stats, but still no publishing! :( Maybe more nominations are necessary? *shameless plug* :P

I looked at the source, but I didn't see Afghanistan there. The Second Sudanese civil war fits the parameters you have for Afghanistan, though. Should that be switched? I was also surprised to see the Crusades so low, but if only battle deaths are included that could make sense.

Damn, the page I had it based on has recently been updated and they've changed a few of them. A lesson to anyone using wikipedia as a source! What do you think? Change the quiz?

There was much more than 40 million deaths in the Second World War, the usually agreed upon number is around 60 to 70 million deaths.
