Partly inspired by mxlexrd's 'Can you name the things Lady Gaga wants in 'Bad Romance'?' quiz. I imagine there won't be quite as many Sam Cooke fans around, but hopefully those there are will enjoy this. :)

By the way, there are 3 bonuses. They're formatted in the same way as the main answers, so you don't need to put 'But I do know that _____', just put the bit I've blanked there.

Fun song by a great artist. I can't get the 3rd bonus. I assume it's some variation of "what a wonderful world this would be," but maybe I'm wrong.

Sam Cooke was indeed one of the finest artists of the 20th Century. Which two bonuses did you get, and I'll give you a hint at the third.

Ok, the hints for the bonuses are: 'But I do know that ______'; 'And I know that if _______'; 'But I know that ________'.

I keep hearing the Herman's Hermits version of this as I'm reading the clues. And who does know what a slide rule is for, anyway?

"From the song 'Don't Know Much About History' a.k.a 'Wonderful World' by Same Cooke."
The song is just called Wonderful World. You're actually just giving away an answer needlessly. And you've got an extra "e" in Sam.
Anyway, Sam Cooke would have been a terrible Sporcler...

@ Morningbell: Whilst the song is called Wonderful World, it is often known as Don't Know Much About History. I'll change that round though (I actually meant to put it the other way originally, d'oh!) And thanks for spotting the typo! I'll fix it now. And yes, he'd have been no good at sporcle: 'Don't know much about history/ Don't know much geography/Don't know much Miscellaneous/Don't know much Just for Fun.' :p

@joebobs: Actually, this song is on a quiz I'm making. It'll take me a few more weeks to finish, but when I do, I'll make sure I accept that alternate. Thanks.

From the Art Garfunkel, James Taylor & Paul Simon version:
Don't know much about the middle ages
Looked at the pictures and I turned the pages
Don't know nothin' 'bout no rise and fall
Don't know nothin' 'bout nothing at all

@ rockgolf: haha! And btw, colour scheme is based on the original record sleeve - I think it's quite a nice colour combo though, I may use it on future quizzes. :D

And a great first publication it is too! I'm going to have to go home and load my 'Sam Cooke's Greatest Hits' CD onto my iPod.

As much as I love Sam's music, I can't help but think of Belushi in the cafeteria every time I hear this one.

Good quiz. I would take a minute off the time. I had the first 7 done in 30 seconds and then had a ton of time left to remember "slide rule."

I think it's clear that Sporcle could have really come in handy for Sam Cooke.

Don't Know Much About ® is the registered trademark of Kenneth C. Davis. Probably after the songs ; I don't know if he had to pay any royalty or not.

Aside from engineers, does ANYONE know what a slide rule is for? (or more accurately, how to use one) Sam, you're not alone.

Have always loved this song, especially since Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis danced to it in "Witness". Incredible scene.

In his defense, it must be stated that Sam Cooke never claimed to be an "A" student, but he was trying to be.
(For fans of the Art Garfunkel, James Taylor & Paul Simon version, I've added 3 more things they didn't know about and added to the song as extras.)
