	THIS IS JUST FOR FUN! If people think it's necessary I'll move it from geography into Just for Fun. This quiz is completely subjective and biased, and may be nonsensical to others. I think most of them make sense (it's really based primarily on verbal similarities, secondarily on geographical proximity). If you don't do the capitals of the world quiz, it's probably not going to be as enjoyable. Please post recommendations for other inclusions and any other suggestions.

	I thought of: Rome -> Athens (classical cities), Georgetown -> Paramaribo (only non-Latin in South America), Brazzaville -> Kinshasa (across the river), Lisbon -> Madrid, Luanda -> Maputo (former Portuguese colonies in southern Africa), Yamoussoukro -> Yaounde (same beginning, both in western Africa). Only later I read that this quiz is first based on linguistic rather than in geographic similarities. But I fully agree with Berlin -> Bern, as there is an actual connection. Both cities took their names from the German Bär (it means 'bear' and sounds alike). In fact, a bear appears in the coat of arms of both cities.

	Only Kingstown, Saint John's, Lusaka, Bern, Budapest, and to a lesser extent Libreville make any sense or are true for any notable number of people. Usually people think of the country in addition to the capital so any capital you'd naturally think of would be of a nearby country or at least on the same continent and is somewhat similar to the other country.. Also they should sound alike not just look alike (Lome and Rome, not freakin way)

	I fully agree with dancastro's suggestions, however, in terms of using geographical closeness (e.g. Madrid and Lisbon) and the suggestions of cantthinkofaname (the fact that you think of a country as well as a capital) - it would make for a pretty dull quiz if it was just 'name the closest capital', which, if you had one based on geographical proximity, would open the gateway for others. Hence sticking to verbal similarity primarily. The other themes dancastro has suggested I agree with though. To be fair, the world capitals quiz is one of my favourites, and I just do it geographically nowadays. The exception is the Caribbean where I do still use verbal patterns to remember them.

	for me, majuro/maputo, apia/praia, and manama/managua. i also link bandar seri begawan, podgorica, and naypyidaw, only because i had to break them all down syllabically to remember their spellings, and i have no idea how to really pronounce them. interesting to see how people associate words differently, though, what makes sense to one person makes no sense to others (couldn't for the life of me find anything that reminded me of lisbon).
