	It would be nice to have some sort of source, or at least an explanation of what was needed to qualify as a number one hit. For example, BBC's obituary for Jerry Leiber (of Leiber & Stoller) references the "15 number one hits" he wrote. I assume they're using a different standard, but I have no idea how the standards compare.

	@guide: All the Beatles #1's (except "Something") were credit to Lennon-McCartney, regardless of who wrote what.

	If you're wondering how the first two break down: For the #1 writer, the performers were: 21 - The Beatles 9 - solo / Wings 1 - Elton John (Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds) 1 - Peter & Gordon (World Without Love) For the #2 writer, the performers are: 21 - Beatles 2 - Solo 1 - Elton John 1 - Peter & Gordon 1 - David Bowie (Fame)

	@rockgolf: Unless you are counting a B-Side (like perhaps For You Blue?), I only count 20 for the Beatles proper. The Stars on 45 Medley provides the 'missing' song from the count. (Indeed, it also provides Jeff Barry with one of his #1 hits as well.)

	@rockgolf—believe me, I understand that it was credited to Lennon/McCartney, I'm just saying that for the example song given for John Lennon, it'd be more fitting to use a song that he wrote (rather than just being given a nominal writing credit).

	I saw a story on 20/20 or Dateline or one of those shows about 10-12 years ago about Diane Warren and all the hits she had written, I remember one being for Celine Dion. Always remembered her name for some reason.

	i tried "jam" for jimmy jam and it didnt give me credit. i was not aware his real name was james harris III. think you could fix that? I did not write out jimmy jam, so perhaps thats my fault. but "warren", "carey" "king" "goffin" etc. brought up the answers, so once "Jam" got me nowhere, i just moved on.

	I agree on the Lennon/McCartney songs. It is common knowledge which ones they actually wrote, regardless of the official songwriting credit. Some examples of which ones you could have used instead for Lennon: Ticket to Ride, Help!, Day Tripper, All You Need is Love, The Ballad of John and Yoko, Come Together.

	I was dissapointed that Desmond Child wasn't on here because he's one of the few professional that I know about. I know he wrote or co-wrote several hit songs like "I Was Made for Lovin' You", "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Livin' La Vida Loca", so I thought he might be on here.
