I'm considering making a second quiz like this, so let me know what you think.
Dec 29th, 2010 at 21:00 GMT
It's a cool idea. You should put "Rich Girl" (Hall & Oates/Gwen Stefani) on the next one.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 02:29 GMT
I was totally expecting Jefferson Airplane at 1:38...
If you do decide to make a sequel, here are some suggestions:
Ashes To Ashes (David Bowie/Faith No More)
Bodies (Robbie Williams/Drowning Pool)
Creep (Radiohead/Stone Temple Pilots/TLC)
Human (The Killers/Human League)
Hurt (Nine Inch Nails (or the Johnny Cash cover)/Christina Aguilera)
The Show Must Go On (Pink Floyd/Queen)

Same here, MorningBell- well, I knew both existed and was HOPING for JA, anyway. I won't hold it against jmc; JA's probably less-known to the average modern Sporcler. I'll suggest a few for a sequel as well:
Around the World (Daft Punk/Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Dead (My Chemical Romance/They Might Be Giants)
Girl (The Beatles/Beck)
Hypnotize (Audioslave/Notorious B.I.G./System of a Down/White Stripes/Young Jeezy)
In My Head (Jason Derulo/Queens of the Stone Age)
Invincible (Crossfade/Muse/OK Go/Pat Benatar)
I Will (The Beatles/Radiohead)
King For A Day (Faith No More/Green Day/XTC)
One (again!) (Three Dog Night/U2)
Paranoid (Black Sabbath/Kanye West)
Woman (John Lennon/Wolfmother)
Also, here's an excellent resource for this kind of thing, if you weren't already aware of it (though far from complete; they've refused several of my valid suggestions for unknown reasons, so always look up additional songs for a given name in a search engine):

Sorry for the double post, but I almost forgot:
Never Gonna Give You Up (Jerry Butler [or a version by Isaac Hayes or the Black Keys]/Rick Astley)
...he he he...
Dec 30th, 2010 at 21:26 GMT
You can probably make a whole quiz on songs named "Runaway." I just may do that, actually.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 21:59 GMT
First of all, you should accept Glenn Miller for Glenn Miller Orchestra. Second of all, I will freely admit that when I heard the Bieber clip I thought "I don't know who this person is, but she sounds kind of hot." That's gonna be a tough one to personally reconcile.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 22:48 GMT
I'd like to add Wish You Were Here (Incubus/Pink Floyd) to the list for a sequel.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 23:08 GMT
Great quiz, and yes please do a sequel!
Dec 31st, 2010 at 04:59 GMT
@johnjf: It grieves me that I can only give you one thumbs-up for your comment. ;) My initial reaction was the same. Heaven help me, I tried Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Kate Voegele, and basically every other contemporary female folk-rock singer with a good voice I could think of before the awful truth dawned on me. Fortunately it came with about 30 seconds to spare, else I'd have had to commit ritual suicide using a broken DVD.

BTW @jmc1988, outstanding quiz, and yes please do a sequel. It might even be worthwhile to do "triples", even if you have to repeat some of the ones here (e.g. "Lady" could also be the Little River Band; Jefferson Airplane for "Somebody To Love", 3DN/U2/Creed for "One", etc.) If you're sticking with mere "doubles", please include "I Kissed A Girl" by Jill Sobule and Katy Perry, since it must hold the all-time record for two different songs having the same title and absolutely same theme but with the largest gap in song quality from one to the other. I will leave it to the reader to decide which is which.

in order too have better artists, you should put george harrison on photograph (sorry to anyone who likes nickleback)
Jan 3rd, 2011 at 03:31 GMT
I second the idea of doing "triples" or more--and adding Def Leppard to "Photograph".
Jan 3rd, 2011 at 17:03 GMT
ringo starr as well for "Photograph"
Jan 3rd, 2011 at 22:20 GMT
Great quiz! How about "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars and Billy Joel for the sequel?
Jan 4th, 2011 at 17:28 GMT
Thanks for the great feedback everyone, keep it coming. It looks like I'll definitely have to make a follow-up sometime in the future. I like the idea for triples as well, so maybe I'll start a list of those.
Jan 4th, 2011 at 23:46 GMT
This quiz is incorrect... Justin Bieber is not an "artist"
Jan 5th, 2011 at 18:01 GMT
I too was disappointed when i saw that was an answer but at the same time glad i didn't know it.
Jan 5th, 2011 at 18:54 GMT
i made a quiz just like this a while ago, and thought "this would be really awesome if it had clips". i'm not nearly that ambitious and yours turned out great, so kudos! we had a bunch of the same songs, but feel free to use any of the others in your sequel, which i can't wait to play. http://www.sporcle.com/games/ras0723/same_titles
Jan 5th, 2011 at 19:01 GMT
oh, and i loved the triples suggestions. my suggestions: Jump (van halen/pointer sisters/kris kross), add Seal for Crazy, and add REM for Superman.
Jan 7th, 2011 at 16:01 GMT
Fun quiz. I like how even though I only got about 2/3 of it right, I got something in almost every row. Cool concept, good execution.
Jan 8th, 2011 at 02:02 GMT
Even that tiny bit of Nickelback made me throw up in my mouth. Other than that, good quiz.
Jan 20th, 2011 at 21:57 GMT
I probably would've crapped myself if around 90% of the way through the quiz I heard a song with such a ludicrous name such as "There's a good reason these tables are numbered, honey, you just haven't thought of it yet" by Panic! at the Disco
Jan 27th, 2011 at 23:37 GMT
I did a triples game in a different forum (not a website) so I have 25+ combinations if you're interested. Don't want to clog up this thread, so friend me or email me (aol).

Surprised that Robert Plant is the least guessed. I didn't know the song, but his voice is so distinctive!
Feb 27th, 2011 at 16:47 GMT
Great quiz! A sequel could include "Hero" (Mariah Carey/Enrique Iglesias), "Halo" (Beyonce Knowles/Pussycat Dolls), and "Home" (Michael Buble/Daughtry/Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros/Sheryl Crow/etc.).
Feb 27th, 2011 at 16:57 GMT
Could someone please explain why Justin Bieber was chosen for this quiz instead of Jefferson Airplane? Honestly, I would like an explanation.
Feb 27th, 2011 at 17:42 GMT
All I Want - A Day to remember and Queensryche. Like to see how many people would get that ;)
Feb 27th, 2011 at 18:03 GMT
who sang somebody to love after queen? gotta start listening to newer music i guess. Nice Quiz.
Feb 27th, 2011 at 18:23 GMT
Just to throw you off, corndog. I tried multiple female artists for that one, no success. Sneaky Biebs and his prepubescence.
Feb 27th, 2011 at 18:37 GMT
Neither "Miller" nor "Glenn Miller" worked. However, "Glen Miller" and "Glenn Miller Orchestra" work for that response.
Feb 27th, 2011 at 18:54 GMT
Another possibility for a sequel: "I'll be There for You" (The Rembrandts/Bon Jovi)
Feb 27th, 2011 at 19:37 GMT
Robert Plant sounds like REO Speedwagon.
Feb 27th, 2011 at 21:54 GMT
I thought the person singing at 1:38 was a girl until I saw the answer!
Feb 27th, 2011 at 22:14 GMT
Five orbs for including Eiffel 65!
Feb 27th, 2011 at 23:09 GMT
I never thought I'd see the day when Justin Bieber was in the same quiz as the likes of Led Zeppelin, Queen and Van Halen...
Feb 27th, 2011 at 23:27 GMT
Queen wasnt the first band to make "somebody to love" it was Jefferson Airplane
Feb 27th, 2011 at 23:30 GMT
yes Styx!!! love that band and that song.
Comment below threshold:
Feb 28th, 2011 at 00:20 GMT
There are several of these I'm proud to have not known. Stinkubus, Bieber, Jason Mraz... yeah... very proud to have not known those. Still trying to scrub the Creed answer from my memory... I only guessed that right because how could any NOT recognize Scott Stapp's God awful voice?
Feb 28th, 2011 at 00:29 GMT
And once again I thought Justin Bieber was a girl and did not get the answer.
