| I don't agree that these quizzes should lump spelling variants into one answer. If you have a name with one of those spellings, it's really insulting for someone to tell you "it's the same thing" when they misspell your name. My middle name is Ann. Not Anne. Not Annie. Not Anna. Ann. My mom's name is Diann. Not Diane. Not Diana. Diann. They are not the same thing.
After looking at these names, it made me laugh that so many people whine about the names others give their children today. Would you really want to see a bunch of Berthas, Gertrudes, Ethels, Geraldines, Bessies, or Elsies running around? The last two sound like names you give to your dairy cow. I'm sorry, but give me five variations of Caitlyn over Myrtle any day of the week. (And I say this as someone who gave her daughter an old-fashioned name.) |
