| With regards to Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey - these countries are not entirely in Europe, but generally considered transcontinental, as such the only reason to remove Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is to fit with Sporcle standards. With regards to Armenia and Cyprus - these two are in a similar position, both entirely geographically in Asia, but both politically and culturally associated with Europe (Cyprus especially). It's hard to say whether they should be included, Sporcle tends to put Cyprus in Europe and Armenia in Asia. The only reason to stick with the conventions on this website is that you get less confusion and less people mark your quiz down. I like the quiz the way it is, as it considers all countries that people consider to be in some way European and you're not being penalised for anything that could be argued is not European (since the addition of Kosovo). |
