	The source is a handout from my University translation course, so nothing official sorry. I've just created this quiz to help with revision. Googling Merkel does bring up some feminine forms of the word chancelier but http://economie.trader-finance.fr/angela+merkel/ and wikipedia both keep it in the masculine. I believe it's one of those words, like le medecin (doctor) that traditionally does not have a feminine equivalent (a female doctor is still un medecin). But as times are changing I think we're seeing more and more female adaptations of traditionally male words/occupations. But I'm happy to be corrected by a native speaker if my assumption is not correct.

	Actually, both those sources also call her chancelière. When they refer to her as "le 8e chancelier allemand" they do so because all the others before her had been male, and because it's a mixed group they default to the masculine. If they said "la 8e chancelière allemande" it would imply that she was the 8th FEMALE chancellor. Later in both articles, when they refer to just Merkel, they call her chancelière.

	That was a really interesting read! Who knew one word could spark a whole debate about feminism. I will edit the explanation bit accordingly.
