I don't know why
It wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
How absurd!
Imagine that!
What a hog!
She just opened her throat
I don't know how
She's dead of course

Glad you had her die. The modern PC version has her crying.

I'm English, and these are the exact words I was brought up with. I sang it once with a New Jersey friend, who knew the same words except "cry" instead of "die" (like cocky says). It seems amazing there isn't more variation in the words! Beautiful song, beautiful memories, great quiz, five sporcles!

"She wasn't so big, but she could swallow a PIG" Dang those techers who made up their own verses!

I'm just stunned that dog and cat outrank fly... given the title and all.

Maybe change "Hint" to "Line"? It's not really a hint (and I like it that way).

You could argue that you should accept 'hog' as well.

can't think of this quiz without thinking about legendary 80s TV kids show 'round the twist' - aussie TV at it's best.

One of my favorites in elementary school. She swallowed to spider to catch the fly, I don't know why she swallowed the fly ... I guess she'll die.

I sang this with my nephew years ago when he was about 3. We were having a great time until the last line with the horse and he just started bawling. The next day he asked me to sing it again but to stop at cow...lol.

2 minutes is too long... it's such a few answers, this should be a 1-minute challenge.

Blimey, Round The Twist... we had that in the UK in the 90s, loved it as a five year old. Totally forgotten about it.

This is a morbid, morbid children's book. Only realized that now. Read the "Spider" line and try not to get shivers down your spine.

I agree with TJL. How does the one answer given to people in the title of the quiz end up the third most guessed and not the first?

I never learned goat either, but it only took a few tries to come up with a farm animal larger than a dog and smaller than a cow.

Ok, I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't remember goat either, though it has been some twenty odd years sing I sang it. And we also got Round The Twist in the late '90s in America, for one summer only! Loved it.

@ TJL and cappy: It took me a while to get "fly". Because it was in the title of the quiz, I just dismissed it, and only when I was struggling for the last few animals did the light dawn.

Though I, personally, found dog and cat some of the least memorable animals. Perhaps a lot of people were just guessing common animals.

I'm American and I definitely remember the goat. However, I don't know the song as "Old WOMAN". It was always "Old LADY" when I was a kid (eons ago).

So, in this world, goats eat dogs, cows eat goats, and horses eat cows.
