In case of "Dog": please accept "Laika", I guess the name is well enough known so that people might enter it first (I did). It also helps to show that not names but kinds of mammals are asked. (Albeit it might be too much to do that for all named mammals, since of one of these quite a few are/were known by name)

There is already a full animal version of this quiz, not including just mammals

@sproutcm, checking the dates on these it would appear that my quiz was contributed in 2011 and the published version was in 2012. Seems like mine was first, but I really don't care cause I see these as different quizzes. This is a short and sweet 8 answer 2 minute experience while the published version is much bigger and involved. The published one is a perfectly fine quiz, but so is mine. It is just a subset of the larger quiz, but you see that all the time on Sporcle.

Surprised so many more guessed Ape and Dog than Man. It took me much longer to think of ape than the rest.

Maybe you should specify what kind of ape in your answer...humans are also apes.

To clarify: In taxonomy, our species falls under the categories animals, vertebrates, mammals, primates, and apes. I recognize that jdfulp wanted to try to simplify all the varying apes and monkeys that have been in space into one category, but having "man" and "ape" be separate categories is not accurate.

Why not "human"? The use of "man" to refer to the species as a whole seems pretty old-fashioned at this point.

Haven't monkeys been sent into space? I could have sworn some squirrel monkeys and rhesus macaques had been.

@Alwendil and Theron: absolutely correct. Rhesus mokeys, squirrel monkeys, and macaques have all been sent into space in addition to chimpanzees. The quiz should absolutely differentiate between monkeys and apes.

It looks like the quiz was 'fixed' by simply changing 'ape' to 'monkey'. But of course, it's still not correct, since now it omits the chimpanzees that have been in space (chimpanzees are as different from monkeys as humans are).
