USA/US and UK should be acceptable for United States and United Kingdom. Interesting quiz though.

You're right. This is only my second quiz, so I'm just figuring this stuff out!

Another suggestion: accept UAE for United Arab Emirates.

How about you actually accept USA, US, and United States of America for United States?

Myanmar should accept Burma, but more importantly, I think at least 5 and maybe 6 minutes should be taken off the time. This should be a 4- or 5-minute quiz. Good stuff, though. :)

I'm guessing the people who didn't get Fiji have never been there. Even in Fiji taxi drivers are mostly Indian.

@SomeoneRandom: Burma has been renamed Myanmar by its current totalitarian regime. The opposition have requested that the name Burma is used until the country is free and can decide on its own name. Therefore most western democracies including the US and UK continue to use the term Burma as does the BBC and most western news agencies.

Kennyb: And so the West will do whatever the 'opposition' says? While I am by no means a fan of the current regime, the fact is they are the ones with power in the country. Therefore, I believe the country should be referred to by its official name according to its current rulers. Do you still consider Myanmar's capital to be Yangon even though the regime moved it to Naypyidaw?

@SomeoneRandom: I can never remember how to spell Naypyidaw, so I never really thought of it. But seriously, it seems the most common practice in Sporcle is to call it Burma and accept Myanmar, although some call it Myanmar and accept Burma. Either should really be acceptable at this point in history. When I am playing or creating historical quizzes, I usually go by the "what did most English speaking people call it at the time" rule, to the extent that can be determined. With Burma/Myanmar, I think either would be acceptable, unless one is really trying to make a political statement. Here, Burma should at least be accepted as an alternative.

SomeoneRandom, the simple fact is, the style on Sporcle is Burma = Myanmar. Any quiz should accept both.
