Wow, great quiz and an excellent idea, I'm almost surprised I haven't seen this done before. Although I'll be honest, being from Toronto, the first thing I thought of for "ACC" was "Air Canada Centre" (technically it works...right?)

Good quiz. Needed a little more time. That's a lot of typing. Maybe 7 minutes.

Just you drza. I typed in American Football League. I think that ought to be accepted as well as the intended answer.

And it's hard to accept WPT as a "Sports" acronym. One could argue the same for WWE.

LBW, EPL, ICC, RWC, NRL... Kudos for accepting Aussie rules for AFL, but a global perspective would be nice.

Can you accept south eastern conference for SEC? I know it should be all one word, but the fact that there are 3 initials almost calls for that answer.

Excellent idea, so frustrating though with the golfers and bowlers and such. But you shouldn't accept any alternate answers, that's the way it is. 5 glowing orbs and nomination.

Yeah, the wording of the PBA and PGA was tough, but there's only one exact answer so I can understand that. The FBS I failed at too...it will always be I-AA!

NIT is an acronym for National INVITATION Tournament, not National INVITATIONAL Tournament. Check the official tournament Web site, logo, news stories ... just about anything. It makes little sense, but that it what it means.

If poker is being accepted as sport, then billiards should be as well. Thus, PBA can easily stand for the Professional Billiard Association.

I added some alternate answers. Regarding poker/billards, you could argue that anything shown on ESPN could be considered a sport. But I thought it would give the quiz more variety and make it a little more difficult.
