I must say, the fact that some of the two word properties are accepted by first word only is very troublesome at first.

if you read the note, it says the property suffix or type is not required. it would make the quiz really tedious to have to type out "avenue" or "ave" so many times

I only need 'Park' for Park Place and 'Marvin' for Marvin Gardens, but 'B and O' doesn't work for B&O Railroad? Ridiculous.

Yeah, B&O tripped me up too, I lost some time on that. It should accept "b & o" and "b and o"

Park place screwed me up because I was typing w/o looking at the screen. It accepted just Park, making subsequent picks incorrect.

B & O Railroad tripped me up too, but Sporcle ignores "and" as well as spaces so it would interpret "B and O" as "bo," which everyone would then get while typing "Boardwalk." I'm not sure how to get around that. Excellent quiz otherwise!

I decided to go in order from the the space right after go and continue around the board. After I hit the first railroad I threw that plan in the toilet and just started typing in what popped in my head.

I've never understood why the Monopoly quizzes frequently restrict to US, when it's really not that hard to be able to accept both. I don't mind things being America-centric, but it would be nice to be more broad when it's really not that big a step.

Just FYI: the correct spelling is "Marven Gardens". The square on the Monopoly board is named after a location in New Jersey. At the very least, both spellings should be accepted. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marven_Gardens

@beerslayer: the quiz isn't asking what's in New Jersey; it's asking what's on the Monopoly board, and it says Marvin Gardens on the Monopoly board. It would be like saying that Virginia is named for the Virgin Queen, so Elizabeth should be a correct answer.

I guess it's my fault that I did so poorly on this quiz: I always tried to collect the railroads and utilities. Besides, there are so many spin offs to play, who has time to play the classic anymore? I myself don't even own the classic (but I have the Beatles version :-)

Sivi125 is right. Quizzes like this aren't quizzes; they're typing tests.

Would it have been too easy to just make a quiz asking for all the Monopoly spaces without a 60 second time limit?

Does anyone with quizmaking experience know why the & symbol acts the way it does. I too typed B (space) O for B&O and it didn't accept it. I've found the same thing with Texas A&M on college sports quizzes. I've heard it said that sporcle ignores spaces and most punctuation, but for some reason in cases like this the ampersand appears to be required.

I'm absolutely positive it's your fault that I did so well on this quiz: I never tried to collect the railroads and utilities. Besides, there aren't any spin offs to ignore, so I can devote all my time to playing the classic! I even own the classic! And I most certainly do not own the Beatles version! (I wanted to apologize for the obviously disagreeable comment I left earlier. I hope that by rewriting it, thereby rewriting history, I will be redeemed in the eyes of the two people who seemed to dislike the Beatles enough to vote me down. Hopefully one of my two comments will find favor with the gods of sporcle comment arrows)

Spent large portions of the time erasing because it takes answers so early(water for water works, etc.), was more of a hindrance than anything

Cat_Girl: Older versions of the board did indeed have the misspelling "Marvin", since the so-called inventor of Monopoly couldn't spell it. According to this page (http://www.monopoly-man.com/hasbro), in 1995 Hasbro officially apologized to the residents of Marven Gardens about the misspelling. All I was suggesting was that BOTH spellings should be accepted.
