| VORP doesn't include defense. WARP-1, -2, and -3 all do, but this isn't a BPro stat. WAR's calculated a little differently (and a lot more transparently).
As for Jeter/Ramirez, offensively Hanley hits for more power (they had nearly identical OBPs), but Jeter was better on the basepaths (over eight and a half percentage points better in identical attempts) and defensively. It's very close though, as WAR indicates, and it's not exactly a hard and fast number, anyway. The implicit error bar is about half a win, I think. |
