| intric8 - Regions are 1st level administrative units (similar to US states, Canadian provinces, etc). France has 27 regions: 22 are in Europe called 'Metropolitan Regions' or 'Metropolitan France' (Brittany, Upper & Lower Normandy, Burgundy, etc) and 5 are outside of Europe called 'Overseas Regions' (including French Guiana - known as Guyane in French). The difference between Metropolitan & Overseas Regions is similar to the difference between contiguous and non-contiguous states, in other words, not much, so I think it would be inaccurate to exclude France. |
