	Good quiz. @James: well, they're different because the aid comes from two different countries, but I guess I don't see how that makes the data sets incompatible. If they're incompatible just because the monetary units aren't the same than that would be a valid criticism of just about any quiz based on international economic data. The exchange rate between dollars and pounds changes every day. To get the most recent conversion just copy it to a Google search window (for example: US aid to Afghanistan, "$3,923,700,000 into pounds" gives the result 2.41280285 billion British pounds). I thought the main idea behind the quiz was to show who the major beneficiaries of US and UK foreign aid are. The amounts (in either dollars or pounds) just give some context to that. Were they omitted from the quiz one would wonder why Afghanistan appears first and Ethiopia last. The fact that this particular quiz only covers two donor countries didn't diminish my level of interest in it a bit. @cwpiper: amazing that foreign aid coming from a government would be done on a political basis. If government and politics weren't two completely separate things, I'd almost think they were connected somehow.

	@lpw88 Actually, India has a much lower GDP per capita ($3,290) than the UK ($35,720). Proportionally speaking, though their economy is 30% bigger, they have almost 20 times the population the UK does. There is a reasoning behind it as well - colonial legacy perhaps?

	@tahitiwahini: I meant the data are incomparable because they are from different years, and one is actual spending, the other planned spending. Also, it might be difficult to work out exactly what is included in the different countries' figures, as governments often try to inflate their 'aid' budgets by including unrelated expenditure.

	Thank you everyone for playing and commenting! @James: I thought of that, and looked for 2011 planned aid for the UK, but couldn't find it. Anyways, I'll try and do a quiz with more countries, I looked for Japan, Canada and France, they're a bit hard to find though. @lpw88: The reason the UK gives so much aid to India is because the stated purpose of British aid is to achieve millenium development goals by reducing poverty. India has more poor people than any other country. India's own poverty alleviation programs are still to show success. The UK has, however, decided to freeze aid to India at that level, while increasing aid to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia and Nigeria.

	@James: couldn't you make that same point and more about almost all source data used on Sporcle quizzes? I'm sorry, but the difference between 2010 actual spending and 2011 planned spending seems insignificant to me. Do you think there would be any difference in the rankings of recipients if we were looking instead at 2011 actual spending for the US and 2010 planned spending for the UK? I'm not talking about the dollar/pound amounts which can expected to be different, but the relative rankings. I think the quiz maker is to be commended for indicating so precisely what data is being used. It's quite common in Sporcle for there to be no source link at all. Often it's impossible to tell from the source link what year the data is from. The source data for this quiz is about as good as it gets. The first two out of three comments to this quiz were criticizing the source data and that just seemed bizarre to me.
