I think these women are all fairly famous entertainers. I've never heard of Peggy Lipton, but was at least familiar with all the other names.

Peggy Lipton was the doe-eyed blonde on the TV series Mod Squad. It's weird how so many of these people have now become more famous than their supposedly celebrity mother.
You could also add James McArthur (Hawaii Five-O), the son of Helen Hayes.

I think Anderson Cooper would be a good addition to this list. His mother would stump a lot of people, I think.

Maybe Peggy Lipton may be obscure for some, but I don't see how any of the other mothers on this list are "supposed" celebrities. I think the answer to a lot of these Sporcle quizzes is for people to expand their horizons a bit, and stop getting sniffy that no one is dumbing things down so they can get a 100 every time they play. This is a good quiz!

Good quiz! And Peggy Lipton's career had a five-minute resurgence about twenty years after "Mod Squad." Remember the waitress in "Twin Peaks?" And she even wrote a book.

The Woody Allen comment (LOL) reminded me: Mia Farrow is the daughter of Maureen O'Sullivan who played Jane in the Tarzan movies.

@MySpoon: In fact at the end of "Lovin' You" (the album version, if not the single) you can hear Minnie Riperton sing "Maya Maya, Maya Maya" in reference to her daughter who was a baby at the time.

It's heartwarming how much nepotism there is in Hollywood. At least about half the list is genuinely talented (Laura Dern, Isabella Rossellini, Natasha Richardson, Maya Rudolph, Liza Minnelli, Jason Schwartzman, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mariska Hargitay, and Miguel Ferrer, IMO).

I have the same last name as my mum. Why couldn't these celebrities have done the same? Would've made the quiz easier...

Before I was shocked to find out who Maya Rudolph's mom was, I used to think, "why won't SNL hire a real black actress instead of having this white girl do black face"?

I did okay, but I couldn't remember some of their names. It's been ingrained in my head that Gloria Vanderbilt is Anderson Cooper's mom. He mentions it any time he can. Couldn't remember Janet Leigh, but kept seeing her get knifed in the shower.
