| I have the BARB (and predecessors) lists for 1955 to 1994 and have noticed a few discrepancies.
1982, the year's top programme was Coronation Street with 18m, The Spy Who Loved Me isn't in the top 20 for that year or for the relevant month.
1984, again Corrie came top with 21.1 m and royal variety is actually listed as second with 20.6 .
1989, yet again the top figure is for Corrie on 24.4m, then Enders on 24.1m and in third place Crocodile Dundee on 21.8m.
1990, guess who top the list I have ... yep Corrie on 22.8, then Enders on 20.8 and third place for Neighbours on 20.6m.
1992 is finally one where Corrie didn't in fact top the list, Enders did on 24.3m, followed by Corrie on 21.5m.
I appreciate that different list may handle the soaps differently in terms of lumping the repeat in or not, but 1990 as an example shows that this isn't the reason for all the above dicrepancies, since Neighbours itself would have benefitted more from the old adding repeats in rule than corrie and enders yet still only got no3 with the rule in place in my sources. |
