I believe Phil Collins should barely squeak onto this list. No Jacket Required was a #1 album in 1985, and "...But Seriously" was #1 for the
week ending
Jan 6, 1990, meaning the week started on the very last day of 1989! Just under the wire!

I'll consider making that change, but only because rockgolf is a Sporcle God.

I would say it should go by weeks ending. In any case, if you're going to list the artist as BS & the ESB, then Tunnel of Love should come off of the third column, since the ESB was not on that album. Or you could just list the artist as Bruce Springsteen, since ESB is just his backup band anyway. I mean, it's nice that Bruce put ESB's name on the albums, but they're still just a backup band.

Another musical anomaly: 4 #1 albums in the 80s alone, and yet never a #1 single for Springsteen.

That's because Springsteen can't sing and all his songs have the same exact "message".

Good list. However, I'm surprised that Joel only had 2 # 1 albums, as he also had the very solid Nylon Curtain and Innocent Man. How high did those two albums get on the charts?

Billy had three other 1980's studio releases; The Nylon Curtain (#7), An Innocent Man (#4), and The Bridge (#7), and also hit the top 10 with a live album (Songs in the Attic) and a greatest hits compilation; but only hit the top spot twice.
