Can you name the US cities with multiple airports serving 5 million + passengers per year?
created by
icenine
Enter a Airport (last names acceptable) in the box below
Correctly named Airports will show up below
Answers do not have to be guessed in order
This was the first quiz I ever created and did a lousy job. I have now edited the quiz to include IATA codes and variable names for each airport.

Burbank for Bob Hope? I mean, their own website is even burbankairport.com .

Seriously? You don't accept DFW or "Dallas Fort Worth," just "Dallas Ft. Worth?" Or "Kennedy" in addition to "JFK?" Or "National" in addition to "Ronald Reagan?"

The title isn't right - it isn't cities that are being named. It should be something like, "Airports in airport-filled cities."

You really need to go through the whole list and think of what the acceptable alternates should be.

I agree with all comments above. This is a good idea poorly executed.

you should be able to use airport codes. Like DFW for Dallas/Ft Worth, and SFO for San Fran.

Good idea, poor execution. Clean it up and accept codes and names.

National ought to work for Reagan - that's what everyone in the area still calls it.

Good Idea, but need to change the alternative answers. Plus if your going by Metro area, isn't Ontario Airport part of Inland Empire, not LA.

While you are revisiting, you should use the correct full name for the airport as the revealed answer, or the airport code.

Since you want to include recent re-naming, accept "Marshall" or "Thurgood Marshall" for BWI.

You should also accept Liberty for Newark, Mineta for San Jose, and include Long Beach as part of Greater Los Angeles. If you want to stretch it, there's a case to be made for White Plains and Islip under New York City Metro.

You should change "US Cities" to "US Metro Areas". Otherwise, Bob Hope Airport should be Burbank, CA, John Wayne should be Santa Ana, CA, and Ontario Airport should be Ontario, CA. You have potential for a good quiz; it just needs some clean up as mentioned above.

You should also accept "ONT" for Ontario...or all airport codes, actually. Also, although it is 2006 data, according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_the_United_States_by_passengers_boarded), Burbank, Ontario, Dallas-Love, Houston-Hobby, and John Wayne all fall below the 5 million passenger threshold. Source, please?

It's a good idea, but it needs some serious work. So a tentative 3/5.

You ask this wrong. You ask to name the cities, but we actually name the airports.

What about Miami metro?? Pretty sure Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood both process more than 5 M passengers a year. And there's a good chance West Palm Beach is over 5 M passengers as well. If San Jose is part of the greater bay area, those three are definitely part of the greater Miami area.

you need to accept all airport codes... for example, BWI, DCA, IAD, IAH, HOU, ORD, etc... Needs a lot of work.
