Ricky Bottalico? Ricky freakin' Botallico? The human blown save?

@cmkeller--yeah, I think Botallico's best value for the Phils was that Harry Kalas got to say his name all the time. While everything sounded great coming from Harry, "Ri-cky Bo-tall-i-co" sounded especially awesome, I thought.

Jeter must've been injured in 2003.

Who got all 49 answers right? Did Todd Zeile take this quiz?

You're missing Mike Piazza for 1998. He was a teammate of Zeile's with LA and the Marlins (they were traded together from LA to Fla) before being traded to the Mets and starting the AS Game for the NL.

Excellent quiz idea! Hard to believe no Jeter, Posada, or Rivera in the 03 All Star Game.

Jeter got hurt in the first game of the 2003 season. I got most of the post-Cardinals players, but I couldn't name ANYONE from the Cardinals of those years. Fortunately I tried common last names and got Ozzie and Lee Smith!

@ianmez-- My personal favorite name to hear Harry Kalas say it was Mick-y Mor-an-di-ni. He had quite a way with names. One of the all-time great baseball announcers.

you spelled Gregg Jeffries wrong. You spelled it Jefferies. I was wondering why it wouldn't accept it.

I'm guessing that like myself, many of the 57% that guessed Pedro Guerrero were thinking of Vladimir's Expos days.

The early '90s was the height of my baseball card collecting days, so i remember a lot of 'common' players from that era. but even if i had those cards in front of me, i still dont think id guess tom pagnozzi, felix jose, or bob tewksbury.

Interesting trivial tidbit about Todd Zeile is that he's the only player in MLB history whose career hits total (2004) matches the year he retired...

I'm pretty sure Zeile was an all star the year he drove in 103 runs in 1993?

Although he was hurt, it's sad that we have to assume Jeter was hurt to justify not being an all-star in a given year. Granted he's a HOFer for sure, but still, not so sure he's earned all 12 AS trips he's accumulated.

Even as an Orioles fan, I almost missed Alomar. I don't normally think of Alomar when I think of the Orioles in the early-mid 90s. I tried Mike Mussina, Al Bumbry, B.J. Surhoff, Palmeiro, and Chris Hoiles before I got him. I would have forgotten Anderson had I not remembered that was his 50 HR season and also he was my dad's favorite player.
