Quite a few names (i.e. Rose, Larkin, McGwire, Garvey, Concepcion, Santo, Torre, Hodges, Simmons) on this list that should be in the HOF already.

McGwire and Concepcion absolutely do not belong in the Hall of Fame. Concepcion's career numbers: 267/322/357, with only four gold gloves (so it can't be said he was a defensive genius). As for McGwire, it's obviously impossible to pin down when the steroid use started, and he did have a huge power season at age 23, but a perusal of his career numbers suggests that without steroids he'd have been a lesser Adam Dunn. With Bonds, there's a hall of fame talent who cheated - he would have belonged otherwise. McGwire, not so much.

It shouldn't be the "Hall of Pretty Darned Good". The HOF should be for the truly standout players. Just because they slipped in Mazeroski and Carter doesn't mean some of those others should get in too.

A little confusing to have Rose on here, because he's not HOF eligible either, even if he's not "recently retired."

It would be nice to see a quiz for best players who never made an All-Star game, but it would be too subjective. For example, Dennis Leonard won 20 games or more three times from 1976-80 and had more wins than any RHP in baseball in that 5-year span. The Royals won four division titles in that span, so he was on good teams. Yet somehow he never made the All-Star game.
