	Well, everyone on this list is mentally challenged. Mental retardation = mentally challenged due to people's pejorative use of the word "retard". If it's not stated more specifically than just "challenged" I just left it as unspecified.

	Seriously? Mentally Challenged IS the PC version. Like I said in my last comment, Mental Retardation USED to be the accepted term, but it became pejorative and mentally challenged became the new PC term. Suggestions?

	Fight Club I was going to stay away from because that is classified under "dissociative disorder" which opens the door for countless films. Charly is a good one that completely slipped my mind, and adding the most recent one is always a good idea. Thanks for the input!

	It's my understanding that Donnie Darko wasn't really schizophrenic, but that his visions were real, as he is apparently a real superhero within the movie. There's mention of it in the DVD commentary.

	"Mentally challenged" doesn't really fit with schizophrenia or anxiety disorder. Being mentally challenged implies that you have a significantly below average IQ. Certainly not the case with Nash or Helfgott...

	I agree about Donnie Darko, he was only classified as scizophrenic because, well, it's sorta hard to believe there's actually a gigantic rabbit talking to him. But there totally is. In any case, great quiz: however, may I suggest Brick Tamland for Anchorman?

	Re: Donnie Darko. Interesting. I believe he still sees hallucinations (something about light beams?). I am of the opinion it is ok to leave it on there because he was at least diagnosed with the disorder. The synopsis I just read while typing this said the same thing about light hallucinations.

	In Donnie Darko - his psychiatrist tells Mr. and Mrs. Darko that she believes he his suffering from schizophrenia. It is not proved whether this is true or not, but it's stated.

	I agree that Donnie Darko should not be on here. Every person is going to have a different opinion of his life. That's the nature of the movie. I personally think he was fully functioning. Also Forrest Gump doesn't have a low IQ, he just lacks social skills. This leads me to believe that he is autistic. It is not in the movie though. Good quiz.

	I raised the question about switching out donnie darko and no one has since commented whether thats the right course of action. Gump does have a low IQ, its mentioned in the books as well as the movie. The scene is memorable, the principal shows a chart where "normal" is, then shows where Forrest is, then Mrs. Gump ... uh... persuades the principal to let Forrest in school.

	Mental retardation is still an actual diagnosis, based on a testable IQ under 70. According to a Slate article I just found, however, it is being used less and less, and I can understand why you would want to steer clear. The phrase that I am hearing and seeing more often is "intellectual disability." It was mentioned in the Slate article as well as a recent Sports Illustrated story on the Special Olympics.

	Neither Cliff Robertson's Charly nor Juliette Lewis' Carla had Down Syndrome. Corky from Life Goes On had Down Syndrome; people with that disorder have very distinctive physical features. The characters were mentally disabled, but it wasn't Down Syndrome.

	VERY happy to see Arnie Grape on here...as a young man who has been acting for the bulk of his life (16 of 22 years) on stage, in theatre, and in a couple of small budget indie films...Leonardo DiCaprio's performance in that film is the greatest acting performance I've ever seen in my life. My parents had close family friends who has a daughter much like Arnie, so having grown up around her, when I watched this film, I was speechless. If you haven't seen it, WATCH IT...best performance of his career.
