There's an unwanted "n" at the end of Kauffman Stadium. Really cool quiz, 5/5.

I bet that someone like Ryan Howard has more than seven home runs at citi field in 2009.

Thanks, Biloxi. I had at one time planned to make a sequel to this using closed stadiums (as well as continue my quizzes for each individual stadium) but I have gotten quite distracted. Since this is now an Editors Pick (Thanks sporcle!) and seems to be getting positive feedback, maybe I'll go ahead and make that quiz.

@Biloxi: this is just the 30 current stadia in MLB. (except for New Marlins Stadium, the first HR hitter there is, of course, unknown). Wish the 'Stros still played at the Dome, however, that was a great place.

Interesting point: The Mariners didn't move into Safeco until mid-July and Griffey still had 14 home runs there. He had 27 home runs at home in that season however.

@hsox05 - Nice quiz. I actually saw it the other day and made it a "curator pick" and MSUKent made it the editor pick yesterday. Not sure what took us so long to see it!

383 home runs were hit in MLB in 1916, 5,042 home runs were hit in 2009..... Yet Wrigley's HR king had more than Citi Field's lmao

Hey nice quiz, but should it say Progressive Field not Jacobs Field, which it was named upon creation?

Re:darkphalanx, all stadiums are listed using their current name. Dolphins stadium, at&t par, minute maid, etc were named different things in their inaugural season as well

I wonder if Dante Bichette is even aware of the obscure record that he holds.

@bmo1616: that IS rather interesting. @Wesmantooth: I don't think it's embarrassing at all. It just means that the dimensions were a little too hard in the stadium's first year. Now, if an opposing player had been the stadium's home run king, THAT would have been embarrassing.

You notice 2 players appear twice. Another interesting fact about this quiz is that both of them actually had a shot at appearing a THIRD time, as they both were in the top 3-4 for ANOTHER team when that team opened a new stadium. (CLE & ATL)

You might know this and chose to ignore it, but Wrigley Field's inaugural season was 1914...it was built to house Chicago's Federal League team (the FL is a major league according to virtually all records). When that league folded, the Cubbies snapped it up. I'm too lazy to look up the home splits, but the HR leaders for the '14 Whales don't seem any more recognizable than Cy Williams, so it might be an acceptable conceit to ignore them.

Wow, I hadn't even thought about Orestes Destrade in like 15 years.
