	Fun. Truly awful writing. Would have liked it to be longer...there's so much bad writing out there. I find it scary that MacArthur Park was covered a couple of times!?!

	hah, i never really noticed how awkward ending the line with 'serengeti' in the toto song sounded compared to the previous line (which i think ended in 'company')

	Some are really bad, but some others are okay (Rock & Roll All Nite is fine, it's just repetitive). And if you're wondering, the worst lyrics ever in my opinion are "I did it all for the nookie (come on) the nookie (come on) so you can take that cookie" courtesy of Limp Bizkit.

	Firstly, the lyric is "cut loose like a deuce", unless the cover is sung wrong. Secondly, though it's easy to mishear, McCartney's lyric is "if this ever-changing world in which we're livin'", which IS grammatically sound.

	I love America, but honestly a good deal of their songs have pretty awkward lyrics. My favorite is "I understand you've been running from the man who goes by the name of the sand man."

	As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti I thought the problem with this lyric was that Kilimanjaro rises about 200 km (160 miles) west of the Serengeti. It's like saying Niagara Falls can be heard from Manhattan.

	"Horse With No Name" also contains the gem of a line, "There were plants and birds and rocks and things." Just imagine them writing it. "Hey, what is there in the desert?" "Plants, birds, rocks..." "Anything else?" "I don't know. I'm sure we'll come up with something before we record it."

	There's a lot wrong with Africa and A Horse With No Name lyrically. In addition to everything else said, Olympus is about 10,000 feet shorter than Kilimanjaro. Ironically, I consider those the two best songs on this list. @dxman While it is true I just assumed they were Americans, upon further research 2 of the 3 original members were born in the U.S.

	By lyric, sure. By AWFUL lyric, not really. Musicians are using something called poetic license. Guess you've never heard of it. Only "bad" lyric here is the one from baby got back and that's probably the BEST LYRIC of that whole song.

	Bad Grammar isnt necessarily bad lyrics, some of these songs are awesome. The worst lyrics are ones that are pretentious and lack irony (for example ironic by Alanis Morissette) - if were gonna name n shame bad lyrics it should be the pretentious ones not the joke ones (eg baby got back)

	I love McCartney as much as the next guy, but if you're going to pick on his lyrics, I'd go with "Someone's knockin' at the door, somebody's ringin' the bell, Someone's knockin' at the door, somebody's ringin' the bell, Do me a favor, open the door, and let 'em in" or any of the lyrics from "Hello Goodbye!" Also agree with all of you that Horse With No Name is idiotic, not to mention that it only has 2 chords in the entire song.

	I always though that the Turtles' Elenor had the stupidest lyrics. ("You're my pride and joy etcetera.") It turns out that they were trying to write awful lyrics as dig at their record label.

	These lyrics really arent't that bad. This quiz mostly consists of anal retentive/grammer nazi-type picking apart of average lyrics. You could've done a lot better.

	Okay, I get sir mixalot, i get 50 cent, i get black eyed peas. But what's your beaf with sir paul mccartney, or with macarthur park, or with toto? Lay off the classics, hunt down the real awful lyrics. This quiz could consist entirely out of 50cent/snoop dogg/sean paul lyrics.. indaclub my ass... next time, think better bout the subject.

	@hscer; Even further research shows that all three founding members of America were born to American fathers and British mothers. While two of them were born in the USA, the one who actually wrote A Horse With No Name was the one born in England, and all three attended the same school in London which presumably suffered a shortage of good English teachers in the 1960s.
