| Kelly and Moon both had careers (USFL and CFL) before joining the NFL, so while they were technically "rookies" they really had more experience. A LOT more experience.
For example, Moon had already played 94 CFL games by the time he entered the NFL, and by that time had thrown over 2,000 passes (and 140+ touchdowns and 20,000+ yards). And won FIVE consecutive championships, including MVP of the championship game twice. Likewise, Kelly had two full USFL seasons, including one where he threw over 5,000 yards and was league MVP.
So it's hard to see them in the same way as a guy right out of college being handed the ball (Carr, Manning, Mirer, Flacco, Ryan, Bradford, Dalton, Newton). Less rookie and more ringer in that case. But great QBs whom I think are underappreciated, so good to see them in a quiz. |
