Technically West Germany still exists as Germany. "West Germany" was just a convention to distinguish "Germany" from "DDR" which should be accepted for East Germany.

It's really confusing to have NATO mostly-but-not-entirely alphabetized, and the Warsaw Pact not alphabetized at all. Either alphabetize everything or randomize, please.

are you sure Portugal and Iceland were in NATO at the time? Portugal was fascist until the 1970's and i doubt NATO would help them oppress their colonial empire. Iceland has no military so why would it join NATO and risk being invaded for no benefit?

^ They definitely were part of NATO. And as for Iceland, the idea behind NATO was that the countries could put up a collective defense. If any member was attacked, all of the other countries were obliged to come to that countries aid. So Iceland had all the more reason to join because of its lack of a military.
