Can you name the presidents seen here?
Enter a president (last names acceptable) in the box below
Correctly named presidents will show up below
Click any empty Key or President to answer for that location
Note: Hopefully there is less scrolling with the 9-wide instead of 6-wide image. And hopefully the pictures are still big enough. I have the old image saved too if needed.

Sorry there isn't more time but that's the only way I could think of to prevent people from just naming all the presidents. I suppose I could force order and change the note to tell people the answers are in order left to right and make it 2-3 minutes. Which do you prefer?
Dec 15th, 2009 at 04:04 GMT
Forcing order would probably be better, even with a minute it's still relatively easy to guess random presidents.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 04:11 GMT
I wonder how people who know all the president's don't already know what they look like? Maybe I just learned them differently.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 04:18 GMT
OK I changed it to the forced order. I do like it better now that I've done it.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 04:36 GMT
I learned my presidents through a dollar placemat from Wal-Mart, and since I got all these in like twenty seconds, the drawings were apparently better then one might suspect.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 04:46 GMT
Good game -- good mix of presidents. Doing all 43 might be unwieldy, but you'll never know if you don't try. :-)
Dec 15th, 2009 at 14:42 GMT
i like the way the game is and i think it should be expanded to all 43, like johnjf i also had something like his placemat
Dec 15th, 2009 at 14:44 GMT
after looking at the stats, looks like 20% of the people who take this quiz must never get their hands on $50 bills
Dec 15th, 2009 at 18:01 GMT
Being from Ohio, this was fairly easy. Four of them are from Ohio (and I had to work through the bearded presidents, guessing Harrison first).
Dec 15th, 2009 at 19:04 GMT
Excellent idea! And I definitely like the limited time, forced order nature.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 19:12 GMT
I like it. But limit it to 1 minute or add more presidents to make it more challenging.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 19:59 GMT
#7 scares me.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 20:14 GMT
This quiz needs more taft. ^.^
Dec 15th, 2009 at 20:21 GMT
All 43 please!
Dec 15th, 2009 at 20:47 GMT
I am working on it :-)
Dec 15th, 2009 at 21:03 GMT
From the title, I expected this quiz to use extreme close ups (ie: eyes, nose, beard) and we would guess from there. I won't lie - was a little disappointed. But a good quiz idea!
Dec 15th, 2009 at 21:25 GMT
Alright I have a picture file with all 43 presidents on it. But because of the way I put the numbers in, I couldn't widen the picture. So there might be a lot of scrolling; it is 8 rows deep. But I'll go ahead with it if I get a couple comments in support of it, or based on the score of this comment. And sorry about that jroccoj. Maybe I'll do that next month ;-)

# 7 is not scary but # 8 was a criminal

I don't know why Buchanan was the only bachelor President - that's a handsome man.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 00:29 GMT
Excellent with extension to all 43. I didn't find it too much of an annoyance with the scrolling and whatnot.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 00:41 GMT
Now that this quiz is the full 43, I deem it publishable.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 01:00 GMT
All the scrolling up and down eats up a lot of time. Nice quiz, though.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 02:19 GMT
agree that #7 looks scary. Looking at the percentage of right and wrong answers, something is out of whack here: 59% know Martin Van Buren's face and 51% know Calvin Coolidge's face, but 7.5% know Barack Obama and George W Bush's face and 7% know Abe Lincoln's face??? I realize those more familiar faces are lower down in the gallery, but did that many people spend all their time stuggling on the top faces (and half of them still getting Coolidge and Van Buren right) and only 7 percent of players scrolled down for easy ones like Obama, Bush, and Lincoln?
Dec 16th, 2009 at 03:38 GMT
I went straight through the list. The only one I missed was B. Harrison, thought he was Hayes. Whne I got to Hayes, I figured out who the other one was, so I wound up with 43/43.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 03:48 GMT
More time, please.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 04:10 GMT
@statephone: A vast majority of quiztakers took it when there were only a handful of presidents. Obama, Bush, and Lincoln were not among the originals.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 05:05 GMT
Why not 44? I was hoping to see Cleveland pop up twice. :(
Dec 16th, 2009 at 20:19 GMT
@mikeinpurple... I'm with you. Maybe there should be a picture of Cleveland at the beach or playing squash or something, just to round it out.
Dec 16th, 2009 at 20:45 GMT
I was thinking maybe all the pictures should be the official presidential portraits.

Fun quiz- as for the question about Buchanan being single (tongue in cheek though it may have been) there are two main theories. One is that he resolved not to marry after a failed engagement that was followed shortly by the death of his ex-fiance. The other is that he was involved in a long same-sex relationship with Senator William Rufus King. There's no solid proof of either and anecdotal proof of both.
Mar 29th, 2010 at 00:48 GMT
Way too easy.
Oct 8th, 2010 at 19:02 GMT
Is it just a little scary that the last three presidents were only known by 38% of the quiz takers?
