| There is a good reason almost every quiz on Sporcle accepts abbreviations and normally I'm a big fan of abbreviations but this is one quiz where I feel it is entirely appropriate that there not be any, that the player should have to type in the common name of the country. After all, the quiz is *about* the length of the name, although to be perfectly clear you should probably state that you don't accept abbreviations in your instructions. Agree with robotos that it should accept Saint if it doesn't already. And agree with adding Federated States of Micronesia. Also happy not to see "The Netherlands" as an answer, and would like to think that "The Gambia" wouldn't have been included had it managed to exceed the minimum threshold with the addition of the definite article. Netherlands and Gambia are quite able to stand on their own without the definite article. Finally, I can't imagine everyone doesn't know this already but for any new people to Sporcle: you never have to enter "the", "and", "a", some punctuation such as (period and dash), or white space. Those things are stripped out when it matches what you enter with the answer. So for example, saintvincentgrenadines will be accepted, there's no way to force it only to accept "Saint Vincent and the Grenadines". |
