I can understand your dilemma on the NFL question - If you're looking for a more global question, had you considered perhaps Secretary-General of the UN? Check out the pair from 1961-1981. Their aggregate consecutive terms were one month longer than any other pair.

Yeah, I like for this quiz that the NFL has a 46-year period. I wonder if there's another (relatively well-known) position out there that had at least a 30-year period with 2, but if need be I can certainly go with the U.N. Sec. Gen.
