1. As the description stated, I started and ended my roundtrip in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is therefore visited.
2. Since Cyprus, Ireland and Malta are not visitable without using planes or boats, I avoided them.
3. Since Slovenia is a former Yugoslavian country, I visited it.
4. Since I visited Andorra without using a plane, I had to visit France in order to get there.
5. Since Bulgaria officially uses Cyrillic script, I avoided it.
6. Portugal and Spain are the only EU countries that joined the Union in 1986. Since I visited only one of them and I could not visit Portugal without visiting Spain, Portugal is avoided and Spain is visited.
7. Since Luxembourg is the only country that is two borders away from the Netherlands and borders three other countries, I visited it.
8. Since Finland is the least densely populated country that officially uses the Euro, I avoided it.
9. The EU founding members are the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy and Germany. Since I avoided two of them and one already knows that I visited the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and Belgium or Germany in order to leave the Netherlands, I avoided Italy.
10. Since the Danube River begins in Germany and ends in Romania (and partially in Ukraine), I visited those countries. At this point one also knows I avoided Belgium, since that is the only EU founding member left. |
