	Redsxfenway is correct. The Aleutian Island chain of Alaska stretches across the international dateline.

	Though I agree about the Aleutians and the international dateline... it really depends how you classify "easternmost." Is it based on longitude? Or is it based on the cardinal direction from the center of the continent's land mass? I tend to think the latter makes more sense, but the former is more technically accurate if you don't lay forth a definition.

	the world is round so every country is easternmost but according to maps canada is the eastern most!!

	paulvc is right. The Aleutian islands may extend past the dateline, but can still be considered part of the North American continental shelf, which, as a whole, is considered west. It's like asking the difference between Europe and Asia continentally. There is none - it's culturally arbitrary. Though, the point is well taken and would make a great bonus answer with explanation.

	The Aleutian Islands cross the International Date Line, making USA the eastern-most country on the North American continent
