Enter a character (last names acceptable) in the box below
Correctly named characters will show up below
Answers do not have to be guessed in order

Please note, as with my recent Harry Potter and Star Wars games, this quiz is by the number of lines as recorded in the scripts for each film. These are mostly obtainable from www.imsdb.com. As such, it is probably not a true representation of the fifteen 'leading characters', but I don't really fancy working that out.. Let me know what you think. And yes, I was surprised by Legolas too.

I like it. i thought it was going to be yet another quiz about who said what but was pleasantly surprised by it being who had the most lines. very interesting too.

Great quiz. Check your source link... you might have messed up the URL.

It would be better if you just accepted Arwen. I would guess that a very small percentage know her last name.

Every line of Boromir's was great. He was in one half of one movie and not coincidentally it was easily the best part of the trilogy. The sequels struggled from the human side when Sean Bean was replaced with Dave Wenham and Bernard Hill and so on.

I was surprised by the discrepancy between Legolas and Gimli and the lack of one between Legolas and Boromir (especially since Faramir, Denethor, Theoden, Eomer and Eowyn don't even show up). What's even weirder is how low down the cast Sean Bean is listed (especially when Arwen is third!) It Took (lol) me a while to remember Gollum too and I'm shocked to see that Saruman didn't make it, but I guess the illusion of him having a lot of lines is given by the length of his average line. If this quiz were on words spoken throughout the trilogy, I guarantee he'd be on it. 5 stars from me.

@PWT3: yeah I totally agree, not necessarily with everything, because I thought the first part of FOTR was awesome too and I think that David Wenham did a good job playing Faramir (even though is character was way off from the books), but FOTR is easily the best of the 3!

I can't understand how Tom Bombadil didn't make the list.
Jun 29th, 2010 at 20:59 GMT
Hahha Tom Bombadil should have been in the films, would have cheered everyone up. Boromir was by far one of the best characters (mainly because of Sean Bean) shame he died so early on. If anyone hasn't I would suggest watching the extended versions of all 3 as they are very good!

Galadriel had more lines than Legolas? I find that very hard to believe.
Aug 7th, 2010 at 16:35 GMT
Well, understand that Galadriel narrated the trilogy's opening sequence and that odd bit in the middle of The Two Towers. The exchange she had with Frodo by the mirror was also somewhat lengthy. Legolas mostly had one liners ("A diversion," among the most timeless :P). He was pretty silent. The majority of his screen time was probably fighting. However, I'm surprised that Faramir didn't have more lines. I could have sworn he did...
