| OK, everyone, I apologize in advance for the length and probable confusion of this post, but this is why the results aren't showing up quite right. It's not a Sporcle glitch, and it's not randomly picking right / wrong answers.
There are 3 possible answers for each set, and each of the answers are alternates for the others in the set. For example, the Hitchcock movies: North by Northwest, The Birds, and Vertigo, each can be selected for any of the 3 answers. However, with the way clickables work, you can only have 1 'correct' answer listed when creating the game (it's the first one you choose). So, if you answer North by Northwest, then Vertigo, and then accidentally put Freddie Got Fingered as a Hitchcock film (never seen it, but I've heard it's terrifying, albeit in a different way), then your results will say you got North by Northwest and The Birds right. Why? Because The Birds was the 2nd 'correct' answer, and so the quiz sees that you got 2 answers right. It doesn't go by answers, but by questions (e.g. Hitchcock films 1-2-3, westerns 1-2-3, etc. as opposed to North by Northwest / The Birds / Vertigo in any order).
Here's another way of saying it: you went North by Northwest (1), Vertigo (2, but programmed as 3), and FGF (wrong). This bumps Vertigo off, as the game sees that you got #2 right (which should've been The Birds), and then Vertigo is marked as wrong, because you missed #3. Had you selected FGF 2nd, and Vertigo 3rd, you would've had The Birds counted wrong and Vertigo right--however, that happening is rare due to the fact that the 3rd answer is most missed due to knowing 2 of the 3 and guessing on the 3rd.
If this was confusing, I apologize. This, though, is one of the downsides of clickable quizzes with multiple answers. @halophex, this was a great quiz, and highly creative, as many of these type are. They just don't always display results accurately if you don't get a perfect score. |
