| Thanks for being receptive to all the changes! I'm still not sure I'd agree that breaking up the UK fits with the definition of 'countries and/or autonomous regions'. I know the parts of the UK are sometimes called countries, but when people on Sporcle use the word countries, they tend to mean sovereign states, so I'm not sure people would figure out that's what you mean, which is presumably why the Wikipedia article also didn't list them. If you do still want to keep them, then I'd at least add the UK as a separate answer as well, since it definitely is a country. What I meant by "Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man are Crown Dependencies, they're not part of the UK" is that by writing England (UK) and Guernsey, Channel Islands (UK) you seem to imply that Guernsey is a part of the UK, like England, whereas you correctly point out above that it's not. I still think almost nobody would refer to Guernsey as a 'nation' - or at least, they would just as often include Cornwall, Sapmi (which is considered a nation far more often), etc. But I guess you've dropped the word 'nation' from the quiz now, so that doesn't really matter much any more... |
