	Wow...Israelis must be real animal lovers. Israel's barely large enough to contain 17 zoos.

	@faraznaeem: What a great example of not realising that a country does not represent it's entire population, and vice versa. Japan and Israel are both free countries. The government does not control the respective populaces.

	I'm surprised that Italy, Greece, Turkey and Chile all miss the list. I'm curious how many are good zoos vs. a collection of cages with an admission price.

	A nice idea for a quiz, but unfortunately the data is completely inaccurate! The source you’ve used is (as it says) a partial list of zoos — it’s basically a list of the zoos that have wikipedia articles. So it may well be fairly comprehensive for eg the US, but there are certainly many more than 17 zoos in eg China (just google around for other lists), so the actual rankings may be nothing like how they appear here. If you can find a better set of data for this, it could be a really interesting quiz, though.

	I went to a zoo in Cairo once. It cost like the equivalent of 3 cents to get in. It was huge and they had tons of animals but it seemed they weren't treated very well. I remember an eliphant with like a shackle aroung his leg, with the chains and everything. It was like a convict chained to a wall. Also, they had cats on exhibit, and the sign read "Domesticated House Cats" lol.

	It's interesting that there are no African countries on this list, yet we take at least half of the animals in our zoos from that continent.

	@zlew27-most african countries dont have a middle class that would pay for a day in the zoo. they have game reserves though for western tourists

They encounter the animals 'we' see in the zoo in everyday life, so why would they build a zoo for them? I'm surprised by the lack of Italy and Austria. I think I've been to more zoos in Austria than they should have according to this list.

	GoFortyNiners17: some of us think that domesticated house cats belong in chains in a prison (i'm not a cat lover, but I am just kidding!). True story, I asked my wife one day where was Marfusha, our (read her) cat. She punched me and used a few choice words. "She's dead!" I said I was sorry (mild exaggeration) and asked when she died. My wife said 6 weeks ago! Later I asked my son, "Buddy, why didn't you help me out and let me know that Marfa died?" He said, "Mama told us not to tell you, she wanted to see how long it would take for you to notice!"

	gwulkelic: another great quiz. I love your quizzes and am going through all of them! But if you did get this info from a partial list you might want to fix it. If you ever take a Stats class (wink wink) you won't get a very good grade if you make that mistake... especially if your teacher is a picky nasty old man.
