Always on to a loser when I've never heard of Jonas Brothers Lil Jon and know nothing about Beyonce. Did well on the David Lee Roth one though!

How can you do a David Bowie quiz without reference to Labyrinth, the pinnacle of his entire career?
Jan 28th, 2011 at 16:58 GMT
why would you go from jay-z to kanye to coldplay when you can just go from jay-z straight to coldplay...just sayin'.
Jan 28th, 2011 at 17:16 GMT
thirdheaven, that would only be five degrees.

Really need to accept "Nine Inch Nails" since Trent Reznor IS Nine Inch Nails.
Comment below threshold:

Ditto for Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus...

You missed this link on Scarlet Johansson to Bowie: The Prestige
Jan 28th, 2011 at 17:54 GMT
@Beanz57 Nine Inch Nails didn't score The Social Network, and Hannah Montana didn't date the Jonas brother.
Jan 28th, 2011 at 17:58 GMT
I agree with Beanz on Reznor. The last number of NIN releases have been just Reznor, and it's safe to now say NIN IS Reznor. So although it is not technically the correct answer, it would be nice if it worked as well.

I'd suggest accepting "Kanye" for Kanye West.

Just for fun, using the quiz's icon: Audrey Hepburn worked with Walter Mattheau in the movie Charade, Mattheau worked with Andy Griffith in A Face in the Crowd, Griffith worked with Ron Howard on the Andy Griffith Show, Howard directed Oscar Winner Jennifer Connelley in A Beautiful Mind, and Connelley acted in the movie Labyrinth opposite... David Bowie.
Jan 28th, 2011 at 19:23 GMT
Nice one Meltha! I just watched Charade the other night, it is an amazing movie that most people don't know about because of some incredible story about film copyrights.

Some of the people are obviously not cool enough to be mentioned in a Bowie quiz (Cyrus, Jonas, Lil Jon, Timberlake), but I always appreciate the person who makes me think of Bowie.
Jan 28th, 2011 at 20:06 GMT
Sorry for forgetting about the Coldplay-Jay-Z direct connection! I actually did try to avoid extra connections but that one slipped by (John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson also appeared in a film together but I figured that was too tricky for a music quiz).

Good quiz, but I also agree with the Reznor/NIN comments.
Jan 28th, 2011 at 23:11 GMT
I saw Pulp Fiction and thought Travolta! Epically failing to realize the connector to that solution asked about an actor in Pulp Fiction. However, I'm not going to lose sleep over missing anything regarding The Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus.
Jan 29th, 2011 at 02:13 GMT
Argh, it WAS ScarJo! I need to learn how to spell "Johansson."
Jan 29th, 2011 at 02:32 GMT
I got the 4 on the David Lee Roth thread - and Lou Reed. That's it.
Jan 29th, 2011 at 02:58 GMT
I can get from David Lee Roth to Bowie in one - both Bowie and Van Halen famously covered Dancing In The Street.
Jan 29th, 2011 at 03:47 GMT
Fun quiz, but by the common understanding of "six degrees of separation," these would all be five degrees, not six. A person you've worked with is one degree of separation from you, not two. You count steps, not the initial person. Otherwise you've be a degree of separation away from yourself, which makes no sense.
Jan 29th, 2011 at 16:46 GMT
For the David Lee Roth and Johnny Cash columns, it counts "Bowie" as an acceptable answer...
Jan 29th, 2011 at 18:06 GMT
It is a bit more of a stretch to say Bowie toured with NIN whom Trent Reznor is the lead singer...when it is much easier to make the connection their duet of "I'm afraid of Americans"
Jan 29th, 2011 at 23:14 GMT
Another Joe Strummer route: Strummer was in "The King of Comedy", directed by Martin Scorsese, who directed Bowie in "The Last Temptation of Christ"
Mar 16th, 2011 at 17:31 GMT
Brian Eno. Nuff said.
