	A bunch of these are definitely not chick flicks, a chick flick is a movie a guy would not enjoy, and only suffers through for his lady, like steel magnolias, but When Harry Mey Sally, hilarious movie, Devil wears Prada, not a chick flick just because the story revolves around style, it's just a plain old good movie. Riding in Cars With Boys, now that is a chick flick

	Saying something is "a plain old good movie" instead of a chick flick is not only stupid, it's actually offensive. It's like saying that "The Silence of the Lambs" shouldn't be called a thriller because there are so many subpar films in the same genre. There's no shame in enjoying a film that's intended for female audiences, or which focuses on romantic relationships or other traditionally female themes. However, there's a lot of shame in saying that movies that are good cannot be covered under the broad umbrella of "movies for women."

	Chash, I get what you're saying, but the point being made is that romantic comedy (or romance in general) is not the same genre as chick flick. Not all romcoms are chick flicks (even though most chick flicks are romcoms).

	I get that not all of these are "chick flicks" but all are romantic films that guys tend to not like, either pure romances like Gone With the Wind or Rom-Coms like you've got mail.

	Interesting discussion in here. As someone who teaches literature, I'm not particularly fond of the terms "chick flick" or "chick lit" as they tend to suggest a film or book that is in some way silly or painfully stupid, yet the term is also quickly used in a lot of circles for anything written by a woman or that has a woman as a lead. Consequently, there ends up being an underlying feeling that men cannot/will not enjoy or even watch a movie or book with a female protagonist or creator. This is why college English profs sometimes roll their eyes at teaching the Bronte sisters of Austen (who is notably in this list), because they are "silly chick lit." Usually this is the same crowd that declares there really aren't any good female writers. So no, I'm not crazy about "chick flick" or "chick lit" as terms because their meaning is so inexact they lump together Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre with Twilight.

	I know that it's been mentioned a couple of times already, but it's insulting to have Gone with the Wind on a list of Chick Flicks, which generally carries a derogatory connotation. It happens to be #4 on the the American Film Institute's list of 100 greatest movies of all time.
