Great quiz and good song choices, not too obscure!

Aw, man! I've been spelling marmalade wrong my whole life. Good quiz. Thanks for the memories. Now I have to go listen to all those songs.

I get "a", "in", "the"... then I start looking around me for inspiration. "Cup", "desk" and "spoon" are not commonly found in Beatles songs.

My whole life I thought it was "You were only waiting for this moment to ARRIVE." "Arise" has a brilliant double meaning there.

Learning to play guitar by working through 'The Beatles Complete' came in handy here.... :-)

Isn't "alright" normally spelled "all right"? I at least grew up learning that "alright" is incorrect. If it is, could the mods please fix this?

Monstro, I almost missed that one, and it's my favorite Beatles song! I also kept trying to type in "arrive" - I kind of knew it was arise but I think of it as arrive, for some reason - maybe because that's what I thought it was for a long time.

@trinaK: Technically "alright" isn't a word. It's "all right." But as often is the case with poetry and music, a lot more leeway is given grammatically than in prose. Also, I don't think there's a "'cause" at the end of the first verse in song 1.

@trinak: Always, already, altogether. Alright should be considered proper English but the grammar Nazis who write dictionaries are pretty stubborn. ;)

I always remember it's "arise" ever since reading "Helter Skelter" (Vincent Bugliosi's book about the Manson murders) many years ago Apparently Charles Manson took those lyrics as a personal sign and inspiration, creepily enough.

Great quiz, could not get the first one forever. Had that Janis Joplin song in my head that goes, "if it makes you feel good". Piece of My Heart maybe is the title. Anyway, totally fun. But poor George gets ignored :(

Loved the quiz. I also put "arrive" instead of "arise". And I put "because" but didn't think to try ('cause).

Yeah, 'arise'. I also always thought it was 'arrive' until I saw McCartney perform the song on TV a while back.

This is the order I got it in: Can't Buy Me Love, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Eight Days A Week, Got To Get You Into My Life, Blackbird. You should've seen my face when I realised what the song was each time!
