	Yes, A was from England, but both his parents were Roman, so he was English and Italian.

	Richard Harris doesn't look like Richard Harris in that photo (and I didn't know he was Irish, but that's neither here nor there). I might have gotten it if he'd been dressed up as Dumbledore. Or I might have just tried to put in Michael Gambon's name a million times and gotten frustrated. Great quiz!

	People from Northern Ireland can be regarded as British and Irish, so those ones are fine. Saint Patrick was English though, so I'm not sure he should count.

	Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland both form Ireland, thus northern Irish people are still from the island of Ireland and are perfectly acceptable for this quiz, St Patrick is a patron saint of the whole of Ireland not just the Republic. However he shouldn't be in the quiz as has been pointed out he was not from Ireland, though I'd previously heard he was from Wales or Scotland.

	Mmm, yes Best and Van Morrison (and Liam Neeson for that matter) are Northern Irish but still part of Ireland and their patron saint is indeed Patrick. However, the instructions and title certainly strongly suggest the country of Ireland rather than the island and on top of it the quiz is coloured with the flag of the Republic of Ireland not Northern Ireland. I think therefore the inclusion of Northern Irish items in the quiz is a little misleading.

	St Patrick wasn't necessarily English - in fact he is generally thought to have been Welsh, or maybe Scottish, or very possible born somewhere in Devon. British is a more accurate demonym than English, anyway.

	All of the nationalities mentioned are anachronistic. St. Patrick was from the stock of Roman citizens and his native tongue was Latin. It is true that we don't know precisely how his ancestors obtained Roman citizenship; i.e., they could have been Romans by blood or not. But the nations of Italy, Ireland, and the UK did not exist at that time. One thing we know for sure, however, is that he was not from one of the many tribes of peoples who spoke a dialect of Gaelic; i.e., what we would now call ethnically Irish.

	St patrick was not irish at all and the quiz should be from the island of ireland not the country the republic of ireland as many of the people involved are from northern ireland and so the colour scheme is misleading.

	@skyline, I see nothing in the instructions suggesting it's the country rather than the island: "Can you name the people or things from Ireland? Enter an answer (last names acceptable) in the box below Correctly named answers will show up below" there is nothing which specifies either way. As the island is called Ireland and the country is not, then I think it is consistent for the quiz to include Norn Irish people. Yes the flag is that of RoI, but then it's that that's wrong, however I would note that sporcle pictures are often merely linked somehow to the quiz, and not necessarily encapsulating it. Perhaps they should've used the cross of St Patrick since the quiz was inspired by his day.

	Does it matter that the colour scheme is the flag of the republic anyway? It's green, white and orange to symbolise peace between nationalists and unionists so I think everyone should be happy with that.

	I agree with those who have stated that, picture of the flag or no, the question says "things from Ireland" and that refers to the whole of the island of Ireland--and I assure you that my friends and relatives in Northern Ireland most certainly consider themselves Irish by culture and ethnicity even if their citizenship may be from the UK. That being said, I find it hard to believe that that's the best picture that could be found of Harris. He does indeed look like Huston in it.
