Back in the day, when I sold Girl Scout cookies, they had Scot-Teas (my favorite) and were only 50 cents a box. Memories. February 8, 2013 is National Girl Scout Cookie Day! Enjoy!

@Hejman - Thanks for the Editor's pick. Just a side note...if you don't want to buy Girl Scout cookies for yourself, you can opt to send them to military troops overseas. It's an option right on the order form.

I knew all the LBB cookies, because those are the ones available in my area. I used to be a girl scout and know them well. However, I don't how I could have possibly known the others when they're not even available in the state of AZ.

The number of Girl Scout Cookies we received while overseas was absolutely overwhelming, and we enjoyed every single box to the fullest :)

I was a Girl Scout for years, a leader for many years, and now a grandma to a Girl Scout. What Kristen said is absolutely right. Different areas have different cookies available AND different areas have different names for the same cookie.

My daughter was in girl scouts for nine years, so this dad sold thousands of boxes and spent dozens of hours at the cookie booths over the years. Thanks for the fun quiz! And can someone send me a box of mango cremes, they arent sold in Fl. What would be a fun game is the order of popularity of the cookies.

What are Savannah Smiles? I love the name but we don't have those where I live. I had enough trouble transitioning from Samoas (where I used to live) to Carmel Delites (where I live now). I kept getting funny looks from the GS's when I asked for Samoas. :)

In life, do we need to know anything more than Samoas, and Thin Mints?

to make this a classic quiz, it should have names for the cookies over decades be accepted. for instance for years and years the peanut butter cookies were called savannahs and the trefoils were called Scot-teas.

@BonnieH Savannah Smiles are lemon crumbly-type cookies. I call them tea cookies but I'm not sure if that's accurate.

This quiz is fitting for today, after devouring an entire sleeve of Thin Mints in one sitting...

I think "samoa" should be accepted for "samoas," because I went through a bunch of spellings after that, only to learn that I had it right, just not plural! Otherwise, great quiz; it makes me hungry.

Thin Mints are the leading seller. They are the most sold cookie in the first quarter of the year - outselling Oreos and Chips Ahoy. Other sales vary regionally.

Wow, they changed cookies a lot from when I was in girl scouts. Only 5 were the same. We had cookies like Golden Yangles and Lemon pastry cremes. (or is Lemonades the new name for Lemon Pastry creams?)

alanna82: The Lemon Pastry cookie was made in the old Richmond, VA bakery which is now closed down (built in the late 20s). The Lemonades are now made in North Sioux City, SD. The newer bakery does not have the same type of equipment needed to make the Lemon Pastry cookie (could not be moved due to space constraints) and thus Lemonades were designed to replace them.

@Chillin: so am I, but I ate a whole box of Samoas the other day. You don't have to avoid all sweets in order to stay skinny. You just have to exercise enough.

The new Mango Cremes are horrid. Glad I only ordered one box (and 10 boxes of Thin Mints, lol). Hard to describe them...but the closest I can get is generic tropical fruit-flavored gum or candy. NOT a good flavor for a cookie.

Mango creme didn't sound too appetizing. Managed to get some cookies on Sunday which appeared to be the last day for booth sales here. I was bad though- devoured one sleeve of trefoils during the course of today... Thin mints I'm saving. I really want to try those Savannah Smiles (none here- we had Lemonade). The one cookie I liked the best that is no longer available was a sort of a strawberry shortcake. shortbread with a strawberry jelly in the center. It was sold in Delaware but not Pennsylvania- and it was only that one year...

@thewildboo: Boy, those sound delish! Wish we had those here! I'll just have to content myself with my 10 boxes (3 thin mint, 3 carmel delites, 2 lemonades, 2 peanut butter patties). All the ones I like freeze well, so I buy a bunch and, with a little luck and no binges, I still have GS cookies in July!

We sold Lemonades when I was a leader -- either 5 or 6 years ago. Then they stopped selling them in our region, southwest Ohio. This year someone was selling for an out-of-state neice and she couldn't keep up with the requests!!! Everyone wanted some. I'll never understand some of the decisionsthey make.

As much as I love eating girl scout cookies, I thought I would've done better on this quiz. Turns out you don't need to know the names of the cookies to enjoy them.
