Please accept "Savior" as well as "Saviour."

Always little differences in versions with the older songs (I always heard it as "Remember Christ our savior was born on Christmas Day"), but that's expected and quite all right. These have been great quizzes.

@placidtwilight - I added Savior. @MRL - I changed it so both versions will work. Thanks.

Excellent quiz! Though I'm pretty sure it's 'born the KING of angels' not 'kings' in O Come. Probably just a typo.

Aah, feeling Christmassy now! Is there a missing word in Song 6? - always sung it as "stars in the bright sky".

Fun, even w/o any hints. Started with #1, then #7, then #9, and it was easy from there

Fun game, and I'm glad there were no hints. ^_^ In song 6, I've always sung it "lay down his sweet head" rather than laid -- maybe except both?

@HimuraOkami - Both are now accepted. Thanks for playing.

been a churchgoing Christian all my life, and yet i still cant remember anything past the first line of 'we three kings', because my childhood remembers the rest starting with 'tried to smoke a rubber cigar'.

I've never heard "stars in the bright sky" for #6. It was always just "sky." Great quiz!

I've looked up "Away in a Manger" lyrics from lots of sources. Some include the word "bright", others don't. It was written 125 years ago. I don't know which is correct, but some folks will know it one way, and some the other. I've included the word "bright" in the spirit of giving:} Thanks to all for playing!

Nothing major (it doesn't affect the quiz), but there shouldn't be a comma after "virgin" in "Silent Night." All is bright round the Virgin Mother and child, not round a virgin, a mother, and a child. (Sorry, nit-picky...)

@churchgeek - No sorry necessary. This is the time to "pick the nits"...or something like that. Thanks for your help. Fixed.

Song 7 is my favourite Christmas song I've sung yet was the only one I didn't recognise! So annoyed with myself. Best festive quiz I've ever seen on Sporcle (by that I mean the whole collection). Good going googlebird!

Just over five minutes to finish this one, a little over seven on the more traditional secular ones, and still didn't get everything on the "modern" one. Wonder if that is any indication on the quality of songs...

Got all the songs but struggled with one last word. I always learned the lyrics of "We Three Kings" as "we TRAVEL afar".

should have mentioned this before it was published, but if sporcle admins can change this, then please can you add in 'nowell' as an alternative for 'noel'? It's most widely called 'The First Nowell' in the UK. Anyway, brilliant quiz! :)

@googlebird and @Imperator314: There are two common tunes, one of which works better with "bright" and the other which works better without. (At least that's the reason I have always thought the versions differ.)

Sad to see one of my favorites, O Come O Come Emmanuel, not up there. Sad that my lyrics to We Three Kings weren't accepted. ("We three kings of Orient Are/Tried to smoke a rubber cigar/It was loaded and exploded/Now we're three kings no more.")

I always sang it "in fields where they lay TENDING their sheep" - and according to Google, many notable versions use that language as well.

@erak: O Come O Come Emmanuel is more of an Advent hymn than a Christmas one...

If you separate Advent and Christmas hymns, you end up singing nothing but O Come O Come Emmanuel for a month... Actually, in the hymnal I was looking at yesterday, Joy to the World is in the Advent section. Must be that "prepare" bit.
