Let me know of others that you can think of. I'd like to add a few more from different shows. Thanks for playing.
Jul 8th, 2010 at 04:40 GMT
Excellent concept. I'd cut down the time by like 4 minutes, until you add more, but you hit all the ones I knew of and I love the double-Danza. Bob Newhart was also a Bob on his show 'Bob.'

Charlie Day Kelly should at least be a bonus answer. Charlie Day plays Charlie Kelly on it's always sunny in philadelphia

Nice Quiz. How about Will Smith Smith!

I'm guessing that out of all of these actors, Tony Danza is the only one who was incapable of playing a character that he didn't share a name with. If someone referred to him by a name other than "Tony" while they were filming a scene, he would probably just sit there with a blank look on his face - like Homer Simpson in the Cape Feare episode when the FBI agent calls him "Mr. Thompson."

Nice job with the Woody Allen fakeout.
Jul 8th, 2010 at 22:37 GMT
I wonder if any of these are accidents, like if the Woody Boyd character was written and Woody Harrelson won the part? Certainly most aren't because they are title characters.

Tracy Morgan Jordan from 30 Rock
Jul 9th, 2010 at 00:55 GMT
good quiz. i hate when actors do this, they're so full of themselves. although on the office i think they were just to lazy to come up with names for all their characters.

Donna Reed Stone. Danny Thomas Williams.

The color scheme is a little hard on the eyes, but kudos for including Mabel King.
Jul 14th, 2010 at 21:44 GMT
Joey Lawrence seems to play a lot of Joeys too. On Gimme a Break and Blossom for example.

I got stumped for a little because Charlie Day Kelly also is an acceptable answer (Charlie's real name from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"
Aug 20th, 2010 at 05:06 GMT
@pita: The Woody Boyd/Harrelson was purely coincidental. They had decided on the name Woody before auditions.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 08:36 GMT
yeah I was getting angry at it for not accepting charlie kelly because I was so sure I was right
Aug 20th, 2010 at 11:12 GMT
i didn't really understand what i had to do on this quiz?!

1) I know it's late but can the clue be shrunk to 30% and the answer widened to 70%. 2) Can the displayed version of the answer also identify the series? (Example: "Lucy Ball | Ricardo (I Love Lucy) / Lucy Ball Ricardo")
Comment below threshold:

Super fun quiz, but Lucy and Lucille are not the same name. (My grandmother and her twin sister were named Lucy & Lucille.) Lucille Ball became so identified with her character that we think of her as a Lucy.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 13:29 GMT
Saw Morgan and was surprised there was no Tracy.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 13:33 GMT
Wow, two appearances by Tony Danza? That's about one more than the number of episodes his talk show had.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 14:06 GMT
Two more appearances than Tony Danza's talk show SHOULD have had
Aug 20th, 2010 at 14:08 GMT
Fun quiz! I think that you should make one of the Tony answers a bonus and then added as bonuses Bob Newhart Louden (Newhart) and Fran Drescher Reeves (Living with Fran). Also Lucille Ball has pretty much only used her own first name as character names so she has a few that could be bonuses. There are probably a few others too.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 14:50 GMT
Charlie Day (Kelly) should be a bonus as well.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 14:55 GMT
I might take a minute off. After the ones I knew, which were about half, I got the others by process of elimination. It's pretty easy to go fast if you know the actor's name because you can plug it in and just keep trying every character name until you get it. For example, I had no idea what Doris Day's character last name was, so I just went down the list and plugged in every name (after I had dones the ones I knew) and got it.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 14:56 GMT
Loved it! can't believe I got them all! Very clever, creative quiz. Funny, a lot of The Office characters could be in here too instead of just Angela.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 15:01 GMT
There are so many of these where darnit, I couldn't remember the character's last name, I always thought of the character by the actor's last name when I bothered to think of a last name at all. (Doesn't help when they used the actor's full name IN THE TITLE... I'm looking at YOU, Moore and Newhart!)
Aug 20th, 2010 at 15:12 GMT
Probably too much time, I had to guess at several, and still had 2:40 left.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 16:32 GMT
Yeah I gave up after Charlie Day Kelly didn't work
Aug 20th, 2010 at 16:49 GMT
I would say there's a bit too much time...I only KNEW about half of them and I had 4 minutes left to just guess the others.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 16:52 GMT
Thank you to @Fidelio in the archived comments for the laugh!
Aug 20th, 2010 at 17:33 GMT
You could add Charlie Sheen's character from Spin City, and even his predecessor Michael J. Fox as well.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 17:45 GMT
What about Jack Nicholson Torrance/Napier (The Shining/Batman)?
Aug 20th, 2010 at 17:50 GMT
@kbelle: That other bonus for Bob Newhart's character wouldn't work. In Newhart, his character was named Dick Loudon.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 18:09 GMT
I agree that maybe there was a bit too much time as I was able to complete by trial and error on the ones I didn't know but still a fun quiz.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 18:35 GMT
@CalBenGan: Works fine for movies but this is a TV quiz. Come up with a few more and submit it.
Aug 20th, 2010 at 20:49 GMT
Doris Day?? GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Aug 20th, 2010 at 20:53 GMT
i loved it!only 11 seconds to spare! i was getting anxious towards the end!
Aug 20th, 2010 at 22:00 GMT
Right...this is a T.V. quiz...
Aug 21st, 2010 at 00:08 GMT
Must add "Tracy Morgan Jordan" Quiz would be 10x better.
