Do I think it affected him? Obviously I do. I don't even think that he would have that record if it wasn't for steroids, however, there was no testing at the time, there was no punishment at the time, so how can we re-write history and say that NOW since it is strictly punished than he deserves the asterisk? The only person who deserves an asterisk is Bud Selig and the player's union. I can't stand Bonds so I can't believe I'm actually defending him, but the asterisk thing is childish. Hank Aaron used amphetamines which are now banned by the MLB, should he have an asterisk? And you say that you didn't put an asterisk by Clemens because he did it in 1986 which was well before anyone accused him of steroid use, but then say that if the only time he did it was 1996 you would have put an asterisk when 1996 was way before the accusations started flying also.
