Also known as "How many Scandinavian names do you know?" (Seriously, I probably should have thought of Lessing; but, no, Lagerkvist was the only one I could think of.)

I love this idea. It looks like the most recent year is missing- that would add a V answer as well. Also, under E, the first answer should properly be Echegaray, possibly with "Echegaray y Eizaguirre" as an alternate answer.

I agree--great idea! But it's (Elias) Canetti, not "Carnetti."

Thanks, everyone, for the comments and the corrections. All fixed now.

Diacritic patrol: Milosz should be Miłosz, Lagerloef should be Lagerlöf (as I understand, the transcription of
ö
as
oe
is only standard from German), and Bjornson should be Bjørnson. Lovely quiz, though — thankyou! :-)

Thanks, Pit_trout. Fixed those, and a few others.

WOLE SOYINKA? C'mon, man. Way to ignore the first Nigerian (African, shoot) to win it.

@hollabackitsobi: He's there on the list, but I had a typo in his name so he didn't come up when you typed him. Fixed now.

The T option needs fixing, it only accepts both last names written together - and only with an umlaut on the second one. Also, when I typed "and", a bonus field with some S prize winners appeared. Other than that, good quiz. Surprised this hasn't appeared before.

yeah, i spent a ton of time trying various permutations of "rabindranath" and "tagore". that was disheartening. the rest was fun, though.
