Since no one's done this in 37 tries so far, it may be time to add another minute to the clock.

Much more fun than I expected! A nice challenge for us who beat the regular one with plenty of time to spare.

MTSU for Middle Tennessee State. Vandy for Vanderbilt. USF for South Florida. Texas AM for Texas A&M. FIU for Florida International. FAU for Florida Atlantic. ECU for East Carolina. UL Lafayette for Louisiana Lafayette. And UL Monroe for Louisiana Monroe. I feel like these are common abbreviations that should trigger a correct answer.

The Ivy League is not part of the FBS (Division 1-A), they are part the FCS (Divison 1-AA),

If UTEP, BYU, UCF, SMU, UNC, UNLV, USC, UCLA, LSU, & TCU are accepted, then FIU, FAU, ECU, & USF should absolutely be accepted, too. Each of those (sans USF) even have the abbreviation on their helmets.

one last nickname idea: wazzou for washington state. also, if possible, turn off "st" as an abbreviation -- does anyone actually use that? i just found myself with "ate" moved into a new entry by mistake several times.

Also, no one's mentioned SDSU for San Diego St., which is a standard abbreviation.

I got 117. I'm feeling pretty good from reading the other comments. I missed UAB, Kent State, and Northern Illinois. I just didn't think of them.

Consider accepting "huskers" for Nebraska. I think this is a common enough name.

I guess the trick is to go by nickname, but Whoo knew the Owls were so popular?

Could have used another minute. I went pretty quickly and got to 95 but wasn't done.

***Vernbowsky has a good point... since FIU, FAU and ECU are on the helmets, I'll add 'em as answer yielding solutions.***

***Since three individuals have suggested USF for South Florida, I'll add that as well.*** Thanks for the feedback,

Sometimes the quiz is just right by not getting a 100%... i hesitated for a few seconds on some, so i probably should have done better.

With sports and georgraphy quizes, I usually go with the state by state approach as well, starting with Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon... It usually works out pretty good, but, even despite time, there seems to be a little burnout in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions.

Must be the difference between where you live. I start with Maine and move east to west. By the end I'm flying because of the big box states.
