I can't even tell what the red NHL team I missed was.

Couldn't add the Arizona Cardinals to this list? They named themselves after the color!

@Austin - There was no way to change the color the answers showed up in, but the red teams are: Red Wings (NHL), Redskins (NFL), and Red Sox / Reds (MLB). @SethB - I will add it to the "red" list for the NFL. I didn't want to do a separate maroon box because I didn't know if anyone would actually recognize "cardinal" as a color (even though you're right and it is).

Judging by the bird on their helmet, the Arizona Cardinals (and their prior franchise locations) did NOT name themselves after the color, but named themselves after the bird. Furthermore, there is no real way to pluralize the color, hence it is the Stanford Cardinal (no "s"), for a team named after the color.
