Palatum or palate is not a bone, but portions of the maxilla and ethmoid.

@markyb - The palatum, or palatine bone, is between the maxilla and ethmoid, according to this source and others: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palatine_bone.

Maybe change the wording to "posterior roof of mouth" or "part of roof of mouth." Yes palatine is a bone forming part of the roof of mouth.
