It threw me a little because I remembered that the Monkees' song was actually called "Valleri", so I assumed you were after a different song. Steve Winwood recorded "Valerie", but he wasn't an option here.

You're right- I've seen the spelling both ways, but Wikipedia has it as "Valleri." I already had Amy Winehouse as an alternative answer here, but I will put in Steve Winwood instead of the Monkees.
